Airfield Estates 2011 Estate Cabernet Sauvignon (Yakima Valley)

This is a fine-tuned, pure varietal Cabernet, sourced from a vineyard planted in 1989. Boysenberries, cherries, red and black licorice and notes of coffee and pepper are all in play, buoyed by lively acidity and brightened with light baking spices. Despite its elegant frame, it has some mid-term aging potential and should be cellared for another 3–5 years for maximum enjoyment. Paul Gregutt
