Alberto Voerzio 2015 La Serra (Barolo)

Initially shy, the nose eventually reveals camphor, French oak and a whiff of crushed rose. The firmly structured, austere palate mirrors the nose, offering coconut, toasted hazelnut and dried cherry alongside assertive, close-grained tannins that leave a lean, mouthdrying close. Despite the tannic backbone, drink sooner rather than later to capture the remaining fruit. Kerin O’Keefe
