Aldo Conterno 1999 Barbera d'Alba

Leather, earth and oak scents define the nose. The palate is razor sharp, featuring a blast of pie cherry and bitter chocolate. If red fruit is your bag, then by all means dig in. But the feeling here is that most folks will find this to be overly tart, almost sour. The acidity is piercing and the wine just isn't that friendly. Michael Schachner
