Algodon 2016 Estate Malbec (Mendoza)

A translucent brick-red color and prickly, reedy aromas of wild herbs and dry oak are telling: this Malbec from a very cool and wet year has ripeness issues. A pulling, grabby palate tastes briary and spicy, with green notes and a strong red bell pepper flavor. Don't expect this to rebound on the finish. Michael Schachner
