Cofermented with a little Viognier, this Shiraz, from the southwest reaches of Western Australia, is surprisingly rich and dense. Concentrated plum and dark-berry fruit is in the fore, backed by softer peppery spice, graphite and a lick of chocolate-and-vanilla oak, which shows up on the tannins, too. Plush and broadly structured, the cool-climate freshness saves this from sliding into jam territory. Christina Pickard
