Very dark, with cola and spiced-plum aromas. This big boy weighs in at 14.5%, and you can tell the moment it hits your palate. The flavor profile deals apple skins, plum, licorice and vanilla, while the back end is warm and overtly tannic. It's not your basic Shiraz, yet something seems missing, which proves that sometimes grand intentions aren't met. —M.S.
