This is a powerfully tannic and oaky wine from a warm site and a warm vintage that doesn't deny its ripeness and concentration of flavor. Clove, red currant and pencil shavings wrap around a gravelly core of midpalate weight and power, as specks of dust and pepper reveal themselves on the lengthy finish.
