Alta Vista is one of several Mendoza Malbecs from 2004 that pales next to that winery's basic bottling. Yes, there's heft, cassis and sweetness, but overall the wine doesn't have the focus, purity and density to rank higher. It's a good wine but it's also slightly candied, medicinal and fleshy. 400 cases produced.
