This opens with an aromatic blast of spice, leather, coconut, cassis and blackberry. Plump and sturdy on the palate, it has fine acidity, smooth tannins and flavors of roasted, spicy blackberry and chocolate. With baking spice and barrel-driven flavors on the finish, this is a beautiful wine to drink from 2013–2018.
