Intense blackberry and black-cherry aromas come with notes of licorice, espresso and barnyard. Huge across the palate, this starts out lush but quickly transitions to hard as rocks and tannic as nails. Toasty, blackened flavors of pepper, blackberry, cassis and chocolate finish spicy and chocolaty, with fierce, clamping tannins. Drink 2019–2028.
