Amador Cellars 2015 Estate Tempranillo (Amador County)

This dark and brooding wine has everything in spades. The color is reddish-black, the aromas are full of new leather, oak dust and black cherry, while the flavors are ripe, generous black cherry, blueberry and dark chocolate. The 40% new American barrels adds spicinesss. There is no lack of the grape variety's famous tannins, but they are fine grained and contribute to a velvety saturated mouthfeel. Jim Gordon
