This is a 50/50 blend of Klipsun and Ciel du Cheval barrels, and comes in a notch above the Columbia Valley Syrah from Andrew Rich, with more mass, concentration and density. The fruit is jam-packed with a lush mix of blueberry, blackberry and black cherry, and it leads into an array of tannin/barrel flavors that conjure up smoke, tar, gravel and licorice. There is a grainy chalky quality to the very end that could be better integrated, but that will set it up perfectly against a juicy steak.
