This takes its time opening in glass and when it does, it offers notes of cherry, roasting spice, dried florals, dusting polish and toasty, chocolatey oak. The relatively cool climate of Central Victoria shows on the palate, with lifted acidity and spicy, neatly placed tannins. However, the oak sticks out, adding a rather unwelcome richness and heaviness particularly to the finish. Christina Pickard
