Arnaud Baillot 2018 Grand Cru (Romanée-St.-Vivant)

An initial whiff of graphite flashes before this wine's nose closes again with mysterious smokiness. The palate, however, is a picture of ripe, rounded red cherry that swishes within a framework of fine tannin and subtle vanilla. Sturdy yet elegant, the body brims with freshness. Some of the tannins still have to mellow but there is everything to hope for in this elegant wine. Anne Krebiehl MW
