Artner 2015 Kirchweingarten Blaufränkisch (Carnuntum)

That salty-sweet aspect of maple syrup makes a brief appearance on the nose before plum, nutmeg and vanilla take over. The body is smooth with elastic but present tannins, the fruit is dense and plush while ample freshness gives both harmony and crunch. It is just on the finish that some alcoholic heat becomes apparent in this very approachable but sophisticated, international style. This is big and bold but brimming with fine fruit. Drink 2020–2030. Anne Krebiehl MW
