Asuncion Ridge 2017 Nefarious Syrah (Paso Robles)

Dense aromas of fudge, smoked beef shanks and berry and plum compote show on the hefty nose of this bottling, which includes 9% Grenache. It's thick on the palate, where espresso-cream, cocoa and charred meat flavors sit atop dark-cassis notes. Matt Kettmann
