Ata Rangi 2018 Raranga Sauvignon Blanc (Martinborough)

The 2018 vintage was tricky, and this bottling of Raranga, which is ferment partially on skins, with some portions in tank and some in barrel, is very withheld at the moment. Highlights of sweat and green bean morph into faint peach and lime notes as it opens. The palate is equally quiet, and the acidity a touch aggressive. But again, time in the glass yields slightly more texture, length and complexity. Give this time to shed its austere facade. Hopefully it should age nicely in the bottle. Drink 2022–2028.
