The Santa Rita Hills isn't exactly known for Sauvignon Blanc, but Babcock has quietly been producing the variety for years, with excellent results. This 2012 is certainly their best since at least 2006. The wine, which is unoaked, is dry and brisk in acidity, with a tangy minerality. But it's the ripe, pure lemongrass, peach and papaya flavors that really star. Only 780 cases were produced.
