The vineyard around the renaissance palace of Bacalhôa was first planted with Cabernet Sauvignon in the mid-20th century. The estate continue to produce an exemplary, memorable wine. This latest release is full of tense tannins, black currant fruit and acidity and a smooth texture from the wood aging. It is a wine for holding, so drink from 2017. Roger Voss
