Toasted wheat bread, bacon and clove add interest to the nose, which is robust and loaded with black fruit. The palate is complex enough to trigger some intrigue: Cinnamon, butter and licorice support the dark fruit nicely. The finish is smoothly textured, and there's an airy quality to it. Quite meaty and solid, with a firm core. —M.S.
