Banshee Wines 2011 Hurst Vineyard Pinot Noir (Sonoma Coast)

The vineyard is out toward Sebastopol, a cool area, although daytimes can heat up. The fruit barely ripened, in this chilly vintage, beyond cranberries and rhubarbs, with a hint of winter persimmon and heirloom tomato. Acidity is correspondingly high, and the finish is as dry as an autumn leaf. The result is austere, but interesting and complex. Drink it with Pinot-friendly fare and watch as it changes in the glass.
