Baron Herzog 1999 Cabernet Sauvignon (California)

Sawdust is the dominant aroma, a sure sign of heavy “introduced” oak. Some candied cherry fruit in the mouth offers balance, but overall it's still too heavily oaked. The flavor is almost like butter. This is a wine that needs more edge and balance. ––M.S. Michael Schachner
