Baron Philippe de Rothschild 2001 Escudo Rojo Red (Maipo Valley)

Dark and firm, a hard wine marked by aromas and flavors of nettles, earth and tobacco. There's some fruit in there but it's buried under the enormous tannins. Yet the texture is polished and smooth, and the wine will work well against roasted beef or pork.
