Beaulieu Vineyard 1999 Georges De Latour Private Reserve Cabernet Sauvignon (Napa Valley)

This age-old classic begins with sawdust aromas and hints of mint and green bean. Broad plum, berry and vanilla flavors spread across the wide-open palate, followed by a finish of mocha and coffee. The wine is on the sweet side, with fairly aggressive oak, yet it manages to shine and strut its stuff. Still, more definition and delicacy would elevate it further. Michael Schachner
