A very light ruby-brick color in the glass, the nose of this bottling is subtle, offering cranberry, white pepper, crushed rock and a hint of leather. There's a classic rusticity to the palate, which shows raspberry, saddle leather and star anise flavors, nestled into polished tannins that provide backbone yet don't get in the way. Matt Kettmann
