Beringer 2001 Steinhauer Ranch Cabernet Sauvignon (Howell Mountain)

Cellar Selection

These single-vineyard Beringer Cabs continue to be among the most tannic in California. They are largely undrinkable even at four-plus years, but this has got to be by design. The fruit here is enormous, gargantuan, and the balance is impeccable. There's no reason the wine shouldn't blossom by 2008, and hold for another 10 years.
