Bethany 2014 Cabernet Sauvignon (Barossa)

From fifth and sixth generation winemakers in the foothills of the Barossa Ranges, this five-year-old bottling seem to be aging quickly. The color is heading into brick shades and the strawberry and raspberry fruit on the floral, aromatic nose is a little raisiny. But Cab's typical tobacco-leaf and spice notes are there too, beneath the fruit, and there's a lovely ease and drinkability to the palate. The tannins are drying but the fruit is plump and bright. Drink up. Christina Pickard
