Birichino 2015 Antle Vineyard Pinot Noir (Chalone)

Wines from Chalone take some time to emerge from their rocky shell, a trait that comes naturally with this rugged region. This one is starting to emerge, but may be even better a decade out. Aromas of rusty cherry, sagebrush and thyme lead into a tense, still-grippy palate of mulberry, wild plum and more sagebrush. Matt Kettmann
