Bisceglia 2014 Gudarrà (Aglianico del Vulture Superiore)

Dense aromas of tobacco leaf, goji berries, dried cranberry, pressed rose and pink peppercorn start this off. It is rounded and plush in feel on entry, but broadened out by baked red-fruit flavors that are lifted by tangy acidity. Earthy floral tones rise up on the midpalate, with a hint of tomato chiming in. The copious tannins build a tightly knit frame, but the fruit and acidity do well to push through. Alexander Peartree
