Black Cottage 2020 Sustainably Grown Pinot Noir (Marlborough)

A pale cherry color, there's a heady nose of leafy strawberries and cherries still on their stems backed softly by cinnamon and white spice nuances. There's also a prominent and somewhat distracting mealy, meaty character. The palate is light to medium in weight, with quite bitter tannins and angular acidity. Simultaneously heavy and thin, it never quite jells or offers the prettiness of which this variety is so capable. Christina Pickard
