Black Kite 2012 Redwoods' Edge Pinot Noir (Anderson Valley)

This full-bodied wine has a dark red color with purple rim, very grapy, cherrylike aromas, rich fruit flavors and an almost thick texture. The lingering, jammy finish goes to dried plums and raisins because it's so ripe. Nuances of cedar, cinnamon and anise develop with more sips, and the wine ends up more complex than it starts. Jim Gordon
