Black Opal 2001 Shiraz (South Eastern Australia)

The wine's black plum fruit is firm but ripe; fruit on the nose and on the finish, though, is sweet and red—like strawberry jam. Still, the wine has nice clay-chalk notes on the finish that tries to keep that sweetness under wraps.
