Blackwater 2018 Picquet Chenin Blanc (Swartland)

#61 Enthusiast 100 2022
Return to List

There's a delicate toasty character to the nose of this wine, expressed in hints of sweet spice and grilled pineapple that unfold alongside tones of Bosc pear, gingered peach and orange blossom tea. The palate is pure and pristine, with focused flavors of spiced melon and orchard fruits that are cut by a pronounced seam of vibrant acidity and a light texture redolent of citrus pith. This is a well-balanced and complete pour, showing beautifully now but with all of the checkmarks to suggest a beautiful evolution ahead. Drink now–2028. Lauren Buzzeo
