Boathouse Vineyards 2016 Boathouse Red (Leelanau Peninsula)

Aromas of bright cherry, strawberry and red plum are link up with cocoa powder, hickory smoked meat and sprinkles of pepper and rosemary. Acidity is tangy doling out ripe plum, cherry and pomegranate on the palate, with vanilla, dried thyme and rosemary tones. Tight fine-grained tannins grip the palate through to the finish of black cherry, cocoa powder and long-lingering tangy plum. Fiona Adams
