Bodegas Caro 2001 Cabernet Sauvignon-Malbec (Mendoza)

This Cabernet/Malbec blend comes from a joint venture between the Lafite-driven Rothschilds and Nicolás Catena. It's oaky and earthy, with bright black fruit that falls squarely into the cherry-cassis-plum category. A hint of graham cracker graces the sweet finish, which turns slightly lemony upon airing. Drink now through 2005. Michael Schachner
