Bodegas Tobía 2016 Óscar Tobía Blanco Reserva White (Rioja)

Editors' Choice

Ripe fruit, heavy oak and related spice and wood-grain aromas create a full nose that's classic for white Rioja. Based on Tempranillo Blanco, Viura and Maturana, this feels racy with a resiny offset. Spiced apple and pear aromas are lightly baked, while this age-worthy blend tastes of farm-fresh butter on the finish. For fans of barrel-aged whites, especially Chardonnay, this is very much worth trying; drink through 2030. Michael Schachner
