Brancott 2013 Flight Song Sauvignon Blanc (Marlborough)

Brancott has taken an interesting approach to producing this wine, which features a prominent company claim of “naturally 20% lighter in calories.” To do that, the grapes were harvested very early, resulting in a mere 9% abv in the finished wine. Lifted, almost peppery celery-leaf aromas mark the nose, but there are some nice pineapple and grapefruit flavors as well. It offers a slight impression of sweetness on the palate, then fades quickly on the finish. Joe Czerwinski
