Brewery Ommegang Three Philosophers

#11 Top 25 beers 2018
Return to List

This is a unique blend of Ommegang's Quadrupel Ale and Liefmans Kriek, a cherry lambic from Balgium. It pours a gorgeous clear-mahogany color, with brilliant garnet glimmers in the light and a frothy off-white head that shows good retention. The bouquet offers aromas of bright red cherry, fresh caramel, lightly toasted malt and sweet bread dough, with an enticing overlay of cocoa powder, black tea and peanut shell. The medium-weight palate offers more of the same, with a darker edge to the finish that's showcased in waves of dark cherry, fig, caramelized banana and toasted brown bread. Lauren Buzzeo
