Brick Barn 2017 Reserve Cabernet Franc (Santa Ynez Valley)

This is a slightly denser take on the grape, beginning with smoke, baked cherry, sarsaparilla and vanilla cream on the nose, with a crushed graphite minerality lingering in the backdrop. Fairly tight tannins wrap up the sip, where smoked cherry, red plum, marjoram and bay leaf make for a complex expression. Matt Kettmann
