Brotte 2004 Domaine Barville Red (Châteauneuf-du-Pape)

Produced from a Brotte-owned property, this Châteauneuf is a deliberate counterpoint to the Père Anselme bottling. It sees some new oak, giving it a slightly toasty character to go with dried cherries, prune and baking spices. Firm on the finish; try after 2008.
