The sweet nose offers a mix of cola, root beer and orange peel, while the palate is quite ripe—there's a layer of rich black plum before a drying apple-skin finish. This seems like the type of wine to drink now as your more structured reds age. For Barbaresco, it's actually rather soft, chunky and easy going. Michael Schachner
