Bushong NV Institutionalized Red (Paso Robles)

Editors' Choice

Very dark in the glass, this nonvintage, screwtop blend of 40% Syrah, 40% Petite Sirah and 20% Grenache is quite impressive. It starts with aromas of cassis, black plum and violet, all quite thick but not overly ripe. The palate is rich and full, with soft tannins that frame flavors of elderberry and earth. The finish brings a drying grip of dark chocolate. Matt Kettmann
