Made from the hybrid variety, Melody, this Pét-Nat is the color of cloudy apple juice. It also smells like freshly sliced apples—yeasty and tart. Peach, lemon rind and honeysuckle aromas there, too. The palate is dry and slippery with a tickle of sweetness at the back of the palate, those orchard-fruit notes morphing into flavors. The finish is on the short side, but overall this is a balanced drop that firmly demonstrates the success of this increasingly popular style in the Finger Lakes. Christina Pickard
