88pointsC. Beck 2005 Cabernet Sauvignon (Napa Valley)

Inky dark and tannic now, this 100% Cabernet, aged in 50% new French oak barrels, seems aimed for the cellar. It's tough as nails now, but has an enormous heart of cassis. Give this low-production wine a good 4–6 years of aging.
