I've been drinking this long enough to know that this vintage is better than it has been in the past-it's hard to explain, but this year the wine seems to aspire to be more than it has been. Bouncy red fruit, vanilla and anise dominate the bouquet. The palate offers smooth red berries smothered in vanilla bean, nutmeg and the powdery bubble gum that you find in trading cards. Even and medium-bodied in the mouth, it finishes with anise and pencil-eraser notes.
