Making single-vineyard wines from beyond the estate is a new strategy for Calera, but one that succeeds wildly here. Clean aromas of boysenberry jam, crushed rocks, light baking spice and desiccated pork show on the nose, while the full-flavored palate is both rustic and elegant, ranging from light brushes of licorice and ripe berry flavors to a firm tannic frame.
