Calera 2018 Chenin Blanc (Santa Ynez Valley)

This is a new grape for this historic producer, and it comes from a historic source: 40-year-old vines at Curtis Vineyard. Aromas of lemon and grapefruit blossoms meet with crushed stone, wax and a core of yellow pear on the nose. There's a waxy tone to the sip, where a lemon-spiked almond-cream-sauce flavor lingers long. Matt Kettmann
