Caliza 2016 Azimuth Red (Paso Robles Willow Creek District)

Impressive aromas of roasted cocoa, cappuccino charred beef and cassis rise to the fore on the nose of this blend of 40% Grenache, 36% Mourvèdre and 24% Syrah. The palate pops with bright blackberry and black-cherry flavors, framed by a gravelly tannic tension and seasoned with hints of fennel and beef jerky. The finish is quite long. Matt Kettmann
