Caliza 2018 Syrah (Paso Robles Willow Creek District)

Very dense and dark in the glass, this bottling begins with brooding aroma of dark fruit and dried meats, growing even more savory into stewed meats as the wine breathes. It's well structured and acid-powered on the palate, as tense tannins properly frame this big and booming style of wine, which offers cassis and pepper flavors. Matt Kettmann
