Canoe Ridge 2004 Block 13 Reserve Merlot (Columbia Valley (WA))

Cherries, chocolate and mushrooms cavort across the palate; the wine has matured into some nicely subdued but complex and even exotic flavors. It's drinking well, with plum and flower, chocolate and herb; all delicate but well integrated. Don't keep it long term, but enjoy it soon for its elegance and subtlety. Paul Gregutt
